Recipes We Share (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, web application, and all related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information you provide directly

Account information: your name, email address, and password when you register.
Profile information: optional details such as a display name or profile photo.
User Content: recipes, photos, notes, and stories you upload or create within the Service.
Billing information: payment card details and billing address, processed securely by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Communications: messages you send to our support team or feedback you submit.

Information collected automatically

Usage data: pages visited, features used, actions taken within the Service, and timestamps.
Device and browser information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and referring URL.
Log data: server logs that record requests made to our infrastructure, including errors and performance data.

Information from third parties

If you choose to sign in using a third-party provider such as Google, we receive basic profile information such as your name and email address from that provider, subject to your settings and their privacy policy. We do not receive or store your third-party account passwords.

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
Process your AI-powered recipe extractions and photo generation requests.
Process payments and manage subscriptions.
Send transactional emails such as account confirmation, password reset, and receipts.

We do not use your User Content, including recipes, photos, and stories, to train AI models without your explicit consent.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

Household members: information you add to a shared household, such as recipes and stories, is visible to other members of that household as intended by the Service.
Service providers: we work with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting, payment processing, email delivery, and AI APIs. These providers access your information only to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
Legal compliance: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information and User Content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it longer for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely.

Backups may retain copies of deleted data for up to 90 days before they are overwritten as part of our normal backup rotation.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers to deliver certain features.

Cloud infrastructure and storage providers
AI model providers for recipe extraction and image generation
Payment processors
Transactional email services
Authentication providers for social sign-in

Each provider has its own privacy policy. Where data is shared with an AI provider to process your content, that data is used only to complete your request and is not used to train the provider's models under our agreements.

8. International Transfers

We are based in the United States, and our infrastructure is primarily located there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information:

Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
Deletion: request deletion of your personal information and User Content, subject to legal retention obligations.
Portability: export your recipes and User Content at any time using the export features within the Service.
Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time.
Restriction or objection: in certain circumstances, request that we restrict or cease processing your information.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
