Some Recipes Are Worth Keeping Forever
We built Recipes We Share because the most meaningful recipes in the world are the ones written in a grandmother's hand, and they deserve better than a shoebox.
It Started With a Shoebox
When one of our founders cleared out her grandmother's kitchen after she passed, she found a shoebox stuffed with recipe cards. Some were typed on an old Underwood typewriter. Some were handwritten in pencil, with stains and margin notes. A few were clipped from newspapers that had gone yellow.
There were recipes that had been passed down three generations, a Sunday gravy, a Christmas cookie, a birthday cake that showed up every single year. And there was no guarantee any of it would survive another decade in that box.
That's when the question came up: why doesn't an app exist that makes this effortless? Not just a place to type recipes, but a place to truly preserve them. To capture the handwriting, the stories behind them, and the people who cooked them. To share them with the whole family and build something that can outlast any of us.
Recipes We Share is that app.
What We Believe
Three ideas guide every decision we make.
Food is memory
A recipe is never just a list of ingredients. It is the smell of a kitchen on a Sunday afternoon. It is a parent teaching a child. It is a tradition passed from hand to hand across decades. We treat recipes with the care they deserve.
Technology should disappear
AI extraction, image generation, and exports are powerful, but they should stay out of the way. You should be thinking about the recipe, not the software. We work hard to make every feature feel effortless.
Your recipes are yours
We will never sell your data, share your recipes with advertisers, or hold your household's collection hostage. Export everything at any time. Your recipes belong to you, full stop.
What We're Building
Recipes We Share is a small team of people who love food, family, and building software that solves real problems. We are not a venture-backed startup racing toward an exit. We are a sustainable, product-focused business whose success is measured by how many recipes get saved.
We are actively building new features, printed cookbook ordering, memory galleries, collaborative storytelling, and more. We listen closely to our users and move deliberately. Every feature we ship has a real household behind it that asked for it.
If you have a story to share, a feature to suggest, or just want to tell us what your grandmother used to make, we would genuinely love to hear it. Say hello.
